Grokipedia, the AI-powered online encyclopedia operated by SpaceXAI, has resumed updating articles after a hiatus that lasted several months. While earlier reports indicated that the platform had stopped reviewing edits in April, recent activity on the site’s live updates feed suggests a return to active maintenance.

What Happened

According to The Verge, the platform’s live updates site is now displaying various recent changes to pages. Many of these updates currently consist of a note stating “recheck all references and sources.” Specific pages have undergone recent fact-checks by the underlying Grok model; for instance, the page for President Barack Obama was marked as “Fact-checked by Grok” two days prior to the report, and the page for Elon Musk was fact-checked within the last hour.

However, the update process appears inconsistent. The Verge noted that the page for Honolulu was last fact-checked seven months ago, indicating that not every entry has been scanned recently. During the reporting of the article, The Verge successfully suggested an update to the Gears of War: E-Day page to include its October 6th release date, which Grokipedia accepted. A request to create a new article about Meta’s Muse chatbot was submitted and placed in a “In Review” status.

Why It Matters

The resumption of updates signals a potential revitalization of the project, which had drawn criticism for its period of inactivity. While SpaceXAI did not immediately respond to requests for comment, and Elon Musk has not posted about Grokipedia on X since February, Benji Taylor, the head of design at X and SpaceXAI, addressed the community last week. Taylor stated, “We haven’t forgotten about Grokipedia,” and claimed that “v0.2 will be better than ever,” despite the fact that version 0.2 technically launched in November. Musk previously claimed about a year ago that Grokipedia would be “a massive improvement over Wikipedia,” a benchmark against which these renewed efforts will likely be measured.

The Bottom Line

Grokipedia is actively processing edits and fact-checks again, though coverage remains uneven across the site. The platform’s future trajectory depends on whether these technical updates translate into the comprehensive improvements promised by its leadership.
